Man charged in criminal threatening

An Old Town man, apparently with a handgun in his possession, stopped Tuesday night by an apartment on Chapman Street, where he had stayed several months ago, with the intention of threatening his former roommates, Old Town police Capt. Kyle Smart said Wednesday.

Stevie Baston, 23, also known as “Haze,” told police he stopped by the apartment at around 6:30 p.m. to “straighten things out” with his former roommates, but denied having the firearm in his possession at the time. Baston, who was apprehended at another Old Town residence, apparently threatened a 21-year-old female, who was the only one home at the Chapman Street apartment at the time of the encounter.

Police located a handgun and charged Baston with criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon and took him to Penobscot County Jail in Bangor. He was released on bail Wednesday afternoon, a jail official said. (Nok-Noi Ricker, BDN)
