Maine teen accused of raping two girls

MARSHFIELD, Mass. – Bail has been set at $150,000 for a carnival worker accused of raping two teenage girls he met at the Marshfield Fair.

Jeffrey Witham, 18, of Oxford, Maine, pleaded not guilty Monday in Plymouth District Court to several charges, including rape of a child by force.

Prosecutors said the alleged victims were 13 and 14.

Police said Witham exchanged phone numbers with the girls at the fair and later went to the Marshfield home of one of them, where the alleged attacks occurred Sunday night.

Witham was arrested after the father of one of the girls called police.

Witham’s employer, Fiesta Shows, says it does background checks on all employees and Witham’s came back clean. Prosecutors confirmed he had no criminal record.

Public defender Kathleen Iaccarino said Witham was working to support his girlfriend and their 5-month-old baby.
