Eric enjoys trucks, pets, gardening

Waiting child, Eric truly enjoys fishing, camping and all things outdoors!

Eric, born in 1995, is kind, enjoyable to spend time with, and can be helpful around the house when given cues. Eric likes to keep his room neat and particularly enjoys sharing outdoor chores and activities with male role models. He likes to work in the garden, carry wood, fish and hunt. He has experience helping care for pets and likes to play sports when it is “just for fun.” Eric is likely to do well in a two-parent home.

His primary interest is trucks, and he plans to be a truck driver when he is an adult. That is a long-standing interest and goal for Eric, and he spent many hours of his childhood playing with toy trucks in anticipation of being able to drive “the real thing” one day.

Eric admits that he does not always like school because he prefers being outside. His learning style may best be described as experience-based and hands-on. He is very good at spelling and likes to read outdoor magazines. Eric receives assistance in public school to help him to manage his social relationships and behavioral needs when he feels frustrated. Eric is learning to express emotions appropriately, and would benefit from continued encouragement in this area.

Eric enjoys interacting with other children, especially similarly aged or older youths who share his interests. Because of this, he is likely to do best in a home where he is the youngest child. He responds best in a home where rules and expectations are reasonable and consistent, and his routine is similar day to day.

Eric likes to maintain contact with former care providers, and usually does that by telephone. Eric is one of 145 children in Maine Department of Health and Human Services care who are seeking an adoptive family. Based in Gardiner, A Family for ME is a nonprofit program that works in collaboration with Maine DHHS to find foster and adoptive families for Maine children in care.
