Seasoned Worker Forums

BANGOR – After two successful forums for older workers in June, Seasoned Workforce LLC will return to Bangor for two more forums: 9 a.m.-noon Fridays, Sept. 5 and Sept. 12, at the Bangor CareerCenter, 47 Oak St.

The forums are sponsored by Seasoned Workforce in conjunction with the Bangor CareerCenter, the Tri-County Workforce Investment Board and some local employers.

The Sept. 5 forum already is almost filled to capacity.

The events are designed for those age 50 and older. The program discusses the issues facing older workers and explores ways to find employment.

There are dozens of jobs and volunteer activities where the seasoned workers are making a huge difference. Due to space restraints and the overwhelming response to the forums, seating will be limited. Those who are retired, semi-retired or looking for full- or part-time work are urged to attend.

To reserve a seat at the Sept. 12 forum, call 561-4050.

Photography exhibit

BANGOR – The first show in the Eastern Maine Community College 2008-09 art exhibit series will feature the photography of Grace M. Bartlett.

A collection of her work, “The Nature of Things and the Things of Nature,” will be on display Sept. 1-Oct. 31 in the EMCC library gallery. An artist’s reception will be held 4-6 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 3.

Photography has been a part of Bartlett’s life since she was a girl who watched her mother take pictures of family events.

Bartlett graduated from Plymouth State College in New Hampshire and in the mid-1970s earned a master’s degree from the University of Georgia with a focus on art and sculpture.

Bartlett’s work has been exhibited throughout New England and the South. She has also been an artist in residence for a number of spiritual organizations.

For information or for the EMCC library gallery hours of operation, call 974-4640.
