BANGOR – U.S. Sen. Susan Collins released a re-election campaign video on her Web site Wednesday evening at about the same time her opponent, Rep. Tom Allen, was speaking at the National Democratic Convention in Denver.
In the video, Collins discusses the importance of bipartisanship, a theme of her re-election campaign. Collins’ campaign said the video was e-mailed to thousands of Mainers and posted on her Web site at www.susancollins.com.
Collins said the change that the country needs is to remove the partisanship that has gripped Washington and prevented progress on important issues.
“That’s not the way it should be,” Collins stated in the video. “Throughout my time representing you in the United States Senate, I’ve taken the opportunity to work across party lines, to forge a bipartisan consensus on the challenges facing our country.
“That’s one reason that I have a long list of legislative achievements. It’s because I always work across party lines.”
The video release also coincided with the start this week of Collins’ statewide campaign bus tour. On Wednesday she was campaigning in her home county of Aroostook.
