BANGOR – Jean Boggio, author of “Stolen Fields: A Story of Eminent Domain and the Death of the American Dream” will speak about her book 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 6, at Bangor Public Library.
Though a longtime resident of Maine, Boggio writes about the Pennsylvania branch of her family, the Coles of Neville Island, who during WWI, had their farmland taken by the U.S. Government for a proposed munitions plant. The factory was never built and the Coles were told they could bid on their own land. However, their bidding opponent was Carnegie Steel.
The book will be available for purchase and signing.
