Stolen items located; two teens charged

BELFAST – Dogged police work was credited with the recovery of two all-terrain vehicles and other items stolen from a storage shed in Brooks last week.

Waldo County Chief Deputy Robert Keating commended Deputies Gene Rega and Merl Reed for conducting the investigation that led to two teenagers being charged in connection with the crime.

Cited in the case were Allen J. Hubbard of Unity and Dallas R. York of Brooks. Both are 18. They were charged with one count each of burglary and theft by unauthorized taking.

The storage shed break-in on Veterans Highway was reported Sept. 8. Entry was gained by smashing a rear window, and two Polaris four-wheelers, trifold ramps for loading them on a truck and a Bosch air compressor were taken in the break-in. All the items were recovered and returned to their owner, Keating said.
