Ellsworth man killed in motorcycle crash

ELLSWORTH – An Ellsworth man died Thursday afternoon in a motorcycle accident on Route 1A.

According to a report from the Ellsworth Police Department, Kristopher Jordan, 34, was traveling south on Route 1A near O’Halloran’s trucking company at about 3:35 p.m. when the accident occurred.

Jordan’s 1999 Kawasaki motorcycle crossed the centerline and struck a 2007 Toyota Corolla driven by Stefanie T. Price, 40, of Bucksport, police said. After the initial collision, the motorcycle went down and was run over by a 1999 Dodge Intrepid driven by Glenn Giggey, 38, of Albion. Both Giggey and Price were northbound in the appropriate lane, police said.

Jordan was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident. He was taken to Maine Coast Memorial Hospital by County Ambulance and was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Price, Giggey and the occupants in their cars were not injured, according to police.

Emergency crews closed Route 1A to traffic for almost three hours while officers investigated the accident scene. Traffic was rerouted onto the Red Bridge Road to Christian Ridge Road during that time.

Officer Shawn Willey of the Ellsworth Police Department is the primary investigator for the crash. Ellsworth Officer Chad Wilmot will reconstruct the crash.

Members of the Maine State Police, Hancock County Sheriff’s Department and Ellsworth Fire Department assisted the Ellsworth officers at the scene.
