ELLSWORTH – Caleb Barnaby scored on the rebound of a Steve Matluk shot with 28:15 remaining as No. 6 Belfast defeated No. 3 Ellsworth 1-0 in a Class B Southeastern division boys soccer quarterfinal on Saturday.
Matt Olson slid a direct free kick around Ellsworth’s wall and Matluk took a shot that was saved by Chad Smith.
The ball bounded over to Barnaby and he capitalized.
Chris Abbott made eight saves on 15 shots for 5-9-1 Belfast while Smith stopped five of eight shots for the Eagles, who wound up 9-5-1.
Caribou 3, Orono 1
At Caribou, J.P. Jenkins and Tyler Giles each had a goal and an assist to lift the No. 2 Vikings to the win over No. 7 Orono.
Joel Griffeth scored on a Jenkins assist and Mike Hofmann set up one of Giles’ goals. Nick Chasse made two saves on three shots for 10-3-2 Caribou.
Tom Leick netted a goal for the 1-12-2 Red Riots on a Jeff Miller assist. Mike Merritt made 17 saves on 45 shots.
John Bapst 4, Houlton 0
At Bangor, Bryan Snyder, Colby Theriault, Zev Myerowitz and Wes Day scored a goal apiece as the No. 1 Crusaders rolled.
Bill Chapman made six saves on eight shots for 13-2 John Bapst while Zach Means tallied two assists. James Strout added an assist.
James Skehan made 17 saves on 28 shots for No. 8 Houlton, which finishes 4-10-1.
Camden Hills 5, Bucksport 0
At Camden, Peter Moro scored a pair of goals and Tom Massey chipped in with a goal and an assist as top-ranked Camden Hills downed No. 9 Bucksport.
Isaac Read and Seth Cohn added goals and Adam Stearns and Shean Hall doled out assists for the 11-1-3 Windjammers. Will Dennen registered two saves on five shots.
For the 2-14 Bucks, Trevor Stevens tallied 18 saves on 25 shots.
Mount View 1, MDI 0
At Thorndike, Ryan Donovan’s unassisted goal with 12:23 to go in the first half was the difference as No. 4 Mount View topped No. 5 Mount Desert Island.
Starting goalie Dan Pellerin made four saves on five shots before leaving early in the second half with a separated shoulder. Alex Mitchell replaced him, stopping five of the six shots he faced. Pellerin will miss the rest of the season. The Mustangs improved to 10-4-1.
Adam Thurston turned back nine of 18 attempts for the 7-6-2 Trojans.
Fort Kent 2, Old Town 1
At Fort Kent, Anthony Lamarr’s goal on a feed from J.J. Pinette midway through the second half made the score 2-0 and No. 3 Fort Kent held on for the victory over No. 6 Old Town.
James Raymond added an unassisted goal for the 12-2-1 Warriors. Nick Thibodeau totaled eight saves on 10 shots.
For the 3-11-1 Indians, Brenton Magers netted an unassisted score. Tyler Tracewski turned away 11 of 26 shots.

Cony 2, Morse 1
At Augusta, Artrell Blakely scored two goals and Ryan Conrad made nine saves to pace the No. 4 Rams past No. 5 Morse of Bath.
Eddie Weddington asssisted on Blakely’s first goal for 8-6-1 Cony.
Steve Gerow scored the goal for 7-8 Morse. Eric Stailing made nine saves.
Mt. Blue 4, Gardiner 0
At Farmington, Chris Simpson notched two goals to pace the No. 3 Cougars past the Tigers.
Luke Ferreira and Tommy Cook added goals for Mt. Blue, which improves to 5-6-3.
Gardiner finishes its season at 5-10.
Brunswick 3, Oxford Hills 1
At Brunswick, Mike Sfirri tallied two goals and Evan Grimes added another as the No. 2 Dragons improved to 13-1-1. No. 7 Oxford Hills finishes up at 1-12-2.
Mount Ararat 10, Leavitt 0
At Topsham, the top-seeded Eagles got three goals from Shane Coffin and two from Chris Lyons en route to a comfortable win. Mount Ararat improves to 14-0-1 while No. 8 Leavitt drops to 3-12-1.
PI 3, Messalonskee 2 (OT)
At Presque Isle, Nick Casavant’s unassisted goal with 4:45 left in the first overtime enabled No. 2 seed Presque Isle to eliminate upset-minded Messalonskee of Oakland, the seventh seed.
It was Casavant’s second goal of the game. Steve Porter had the other one. Matt Gale and Darren Carlisle had assists and Shane Clark stopped 15 of 17 shots for the 8-3-4 Wildcats.
Kevin Atkins and Wes Viles scored for 6-8-1 Messalonskee. Jake Stevens had an assist and Stefan Barssen made 12 saves on 16 shots.

WA Raiders 4, Sumner 1
At East Machias, Matt Gibson tallied two goals as the second-ranked Raiders tipped the No. 7 Tigers.
Juan Cabau and Max Weiss each had a goal and an assist for 10-2-1 Washington Academy. Jared Gray added an assist. Barrett Craven made eight saves on 14 shots.
Jeff Malloy led 4-9-2 Sumner of East Sullivan with a goal on a Trevor Renwick assist. J.J. Phinney stopped eight of 15 shots.
Madawaska 3, Schenck 1
At Madawaska, Ted McHenry scored a goal off an Alex Daigle feed to snap a 1-1 tie with 31:05 to go.
Josh Michaud and Marc Garcia had the other goals for the No. 4 Owls, who improve to 7-6-2. Steve Guerrette added an assist and Steve Soucy made four saves on 10 shots.
Seth Johnston converted an assist from goalie Mike Rossignol on a long punt for the No. 5 Wolverines of East Millinocket (4-10-2). Rossignol made seven stops on 12 shots.

At Howland, Keith Champion converted a pass from Justin Cloukey at the two-minute mark of the first overtime as No. 3 Penobscot Valley edged No. 6 Hodgdon.
Sean Rackley scored on a penalty kick at the seven minute mark of the first half for the 8-5-2 Howlers. Lance Pelkey registered five saves on six shots.
Ryan Blanchette notched the lone goal for 4-9-2 Hodgdon. Zach Good made 29 saves on 31 shots.

Machias 8, Highview Christian 0
At Machias, Austin Roberts racked up two goals and an assist and Todd Stevens and Joe Richards had two goals apiece as second-ranked Machias blanked No. 7 Highview Christian of Charleston.
Chris Correll chipped in with a goal and an assist, Thomas Buck added a goal, and Erik Smith and Patrick Shonningsen added an assist apiece. Marcus Frutchey made six saves on eight shots for the 13-1-1 Bulldogs.
For the 5-7-0 Knights, Gordon Lovell and Aaron White combined for 12 saves on 28 shots.
Van Buren 6, Cen. Aroostook 0
At Van Buren, Tyler Hews poured in three goals and an assist as top-ranked Van Buren cruised by No. 8 Central Aroostook of Mars Hill.
For the 12-3-0 Crusaders, Jesse Parent contributed a goal and an assist while Jeremy Chasse and Chris Masemola both added goals. Myles Ouellette, Corey Vick and Tyler Lapierre were all credited with assists. Goalie Sean Violette stopped all four shots fired his way.
For the 7-7-2 Panthers, Jon Boyd recorded seven saves on 17 shots.
Washburn 3, Ashland 1
At Washburn, freshman Isaac Carney and senior Trevor Thibodeau notched a goal and an assist each to help the No. 4 Beavers improve to 9-4-2.
Jason Thompson added a goal and Adam Worsley had an assist for Washburn while Jesse Maynard made eight saves on nine shots.
Brock Bessey tallied an unassisted goal for No. 5 Ashland, which finishes up 8-6-1. Randy Junkins made 11 saves on 14 shots.

At Greenville, Tyler Muzzy scored four unassisted goals and No. 1 Greenville shut down No. 8 Jonesport-Beals.
Frank Bushey registered a goal for the 12-1-2 Lakers. Gregory Aucoin notched 12 saves on 16 shots.
Abraham Beal made 22 saves on 34 shots for the 3-11-2 Royals.

At Danforth, Josh Bolton scored a goal and chipped in with an assist as the Mariners shut down the Vikings.
Bolton assisted on Ruslin Sokolov’s goal and Evan Haskell set up Bolton’s score. Bennett Gray made 12 saves on 14 shots for No. 6 DI-Stonington (7-6-2).
Chris Irish stopped three of six shots for No. 3 East Grand, now 8-2.
BC Patriots 1, Shead 0 (2OT)
At Bangor, Ben Sobey rocketed in a goal 23 seconds into the second overtime to lift fourth-ranked Bangor Christian to the win over fifth-seeded Shead of Eastport.
D.J. McCleary recorded five saves on nine shots for the 10-4-1 Patriots.
For the 9-5-1 Tigers, Darrin Constant logged 17 saves on 39 shots.
Fort Fairfield 4, SAHS 1
At Fort Fairfield, Mickey Browning recorded two goals and an assist to pace No. 2 Fort Fairfield to the win over No. 7 Southern Aroostook of Dyer Brook.
Ryan Helstrom and Jesse Sayers contributed goals while Matt Oakes, Doug Ayoob and Kris Osgood added assists. Ryan Babin turned back nine of 14 shots for the 11-2-2 Warriors.
For 6-9-1 Southern Aroostook, Jarred Grant tallied an unassisted score. Zac Philibert registered 12 saves on 27 shots.
Lee 5, Limestone/MSSM 4
At Lee, the Pandas scored twice, watched Limestone/Maine School of Science and Mathematics roar back to take a 4-2 lead, then scored three straight goals in the final 18 minutes to post the win.
Dustin Pickering scored three goals for the No. 3 Pandas (9-4-2) including two five minutes apart that evened the score at 4-4. Frank Severance and Blair Emery added a goal and an assist apiece, and the duo hooked up on the game-winner – a Severance-to-Emery play – with 3:51 to go.
Adam Ham made nine saves on 16 shots.
Christian Beck scored three straight first-half goals and assisted on the fourth for No. 6 Limstone (7-8-1). Andrew Pelletier added a goal and Dominik Lobkowicz and Eric Crook combined to make 11 saves on 21 shots.
