BOYS

Big School (Classes A-B)

BILLY CLARK

Clark, a senior tailback on the Skwohegan football team, teamed up with backfield mate Billy Vigue for 378 rushing yards in the Indians’4 4-20 victory over Bangor on Friday. Clark finished with 195 yards on 28 carries and four TDs in the win.

Small School (Classes C-D)

BLAKE SILK

The Orono High School senior halfback/defensive end scored touchdowns on the offensive and defensive side of the ball as the Red Riots upended Stearns 20-8 in LTC play on Friday. Silk caught a TD pass late in the first half and returned a fourth-quarter interception 55 yards for a score to cement the victory.

GIRLS

Big School (Classes A-B)

HEATHER SPURLING

The Mount Desert Island senior cross country runner led the Trojans to a second-place finish at the Maine Cross Country Festival of Champions over the weekend. Spurling ran to a gutsy 10th place in 20 minutes, 23.7 seconds after injuring her ankle about two miles into the race.

Small School (Classes C-D)

ELIZABETH FOX

The Orono High School sophomore goalie posted shutouts in back-to-back games as the Red Riots earned a pointworthy victory and tie. Orono blanked Class C Heal points leader Fort Kent 1-0 Saturday and tied third-ranked George Stevens Academy of Blue Hill 0-0 on Tuesday.
