DOUG MARTINS
The Belfast Area High School golfer carded a 75 to win medalist honors at the Class B state team championships held at Natanis Golf Course in Vassalboro. Martins’ effort helped the Lions earn a fourth-place finish among 11 teams that participated in the meet.
Small School (Classes C-D)
SHAWN PARKER
The Madawaska High School soccer player scored five goals in a pair of wins that kept the undefeated Owls atop the Eastern C Heal point ratings. Parker scored three goals in a 2-1 victory over Fort Fairfield, then added two goals during an 8-0 victory over Van Buren.
GIRLS
Big School (Classes A-B)
NICOLE STAIRS
The Bangor High School senior midfielder recorded her first career hat trick in a 9-0 victory over rival Brewer on Tuesday evening. Stairs scored all three of the goals in a span of 11 minutes, 30 seconds in the first half.
Small School (Classes C-D)
KALI BERENYI
The Searsport High soccer player played an instrumental role as the Vikings earned their biggest victory of the season to date last Friday. Berenyi scored three goals, including the game-winner in overtime as Searsport defeated George Stevens Academy 3-2. The Vikings were ranked fourth in the recent Class C Heal points.
