Witham TD lifts Foxcroft by Rockland

DOVER-FOXCROFT – Foxcroft Academy recovered from a 14-0 halftime deficit and scored 20 unanswered points Friday night to pull out a 20-14 LTC football victory over Rockland at Oakes Field.

Wade Witham scored the winning touchdown on a 12-yard run with 1:19 left in the fourth quarter for the Ponies.

Rockland marched back down the field, but on third-and-nine at the 9 yard line, Josiah Richard intercepted a Dylan Meklin pass with 30 seconds left to secure the win for Foxcroft.

Witham first scored for the Ponies on a 9-yard run in the third. Ian Champeon tied it on a 35-yard rush.

Champeon had 24 carries for 183 yards, 162 yards coming in the second half.

Meklin completed a 35-yard pass to David Searle in the first for Rockland. Sam Weiss made it 14-0 in the second quarter on a 51-yard punt return.

Meklin completed 14 of 32 passes for 241 yards.

Foxcroft’s Josh Conroy had two interceptions.

Rockland out-performed Foxcroft 278 to 263 in total offensive yards.

Stearns 49, Mount View 6

At Millinocket, Charlie Osborne carried the ball just five times, but rushed for two touchdowns as Stearns routed Mount View of Thorndike.

Osborne totaled 77 rushing yards for the Minutemen while Billy Eurich added 78 yards rushing on nine carries. Eurich scored on a 5-yard run in the second quarter.

Jason Levasseur put Stearns on the board with an 85-yard punt return early in the first quarter. Cory Barnett followed with an interception returned for a touchdown. Barnett later scored on a 20-yard run in the second.

Jared McGreevy completed a 38-yard pass to Josh McDaniel for a score.

Levasseur added an interception and Luis Ventura converted all seven of his extra-point kicks.

Tristan Ripley prevented the shutout by scoring on a fumble recovery in the end zone for a touchdown. Bruce Cook recorded an interception.

Stearns totaled 285 yards of offense, 250 of it rushing. The Minutemen held Mount View to just 6 yards of offense.

At Old Town, Shawn Bennett racked up 104 yards on just five carries, two touchdowns, a kickoff return of 75 yards, five tackles and an interception as Maine Central Institute of Pittsfield rolled.

Nick Miller totaled 109 yards on 15 carries and three touchdowns while Brandon Wilson completed both passes for 38 yards and a 27-yard TD to Caleb Lassalle.

Tyler Maloon scored on a 3-yard run for the Huskies while Marcus White had seven tackles and two sacks.

Josh Boucher scored on a five-yard TD run and completed a 22-yard TD pass to Cody St. Louis for Old Town.

At Farmington, Derek Rowe rushed for touchdowns in the second and fourth quarters to lead Mt. Blue to victory over Bangor.

Rowe’s fourth-quarter score came with about eight minutes left in the game. The touchdown was started by an Alec Wallace fumble recovery at the Bangor 20 yard line.

Bangor got on the scoreboard on the final play of regulation when Nate Hennigan reeled in a 5-yard pass in the end zone from quarterback Joey Seccareccia.

At Oakland, the Eagles scored on three consecutive second half possessions as they shut out Brewer.

Dezmond Nutter paved the way with 66 yards on 12 carries and a touchdown while Dylan Foster and Chris Pelletier connected on a 14-yard TD pass. Foster scored the game’s first TD on a 1-yard run while Keenan Knox had 61 yards on 11 carries.

Billy Bissell led Brewer with 66 yards on 19 carries while Pat McEwen compiled 55 yards on 10 carries.

At Bar Harbor, Terrence Jones spearheaded a balanced attack with 193 yards rushing and two touchdowns as Mount Desert Island cruised to its fifth victory.

Jones scored on TD runs of 18 and 32 yards while O’Dayne Gaynor compiled 101 rush yards and two TDs. Jasper Cousins ran for one score and returned an interception for another while Tyler Crawford completed all four passes for 155 yards and a touchdown.

Paul Ketcham led Nokomis of Newport with 79 yards rushing. Derek Amoroso completed a 4-yard TD pass to Ethan Curry and Jordan Richards scored on a 19-yard run.

At Reggie Clark Field in Skowhegan, the Bulldogs scored in all four quarters to remain undefeated in Pine Tree Conference Class A action.

Ben Violette threw scoring passes of 30 and 33 yards to Matt Perkins to pace Lawrence of Fairfield. Christian Powers had touchdown runs of 3 and 13 yards for the winners.

Cody Vigue scored the only TD for Skowhegan with a 1-yard run in the second quarter.

At Turner Center, Tyler Green scored five touchdowns on runs of 3, 21, 9, 3 and 11 yards as the Hornets handled the Lions.

Leavitt scored three times in the second quarter to take a 28-7 halftime advantage. The hosts amassed 350 yards rushing.

Willy Fogg ripped off a 67-yard scoring jaunt in the first quarter and added a 1-yarder late in the contest.
