WATERVILLE – Six different players scored goals as Colby College defeated Thomas College 6-1 in men’s soccer action Thursday to claim the Elm City Bowl trophy for the 16th straight time.
Logan King, Peter Randall, Andrew Cheit, Josh Lyvers, Matt Boyes-Watson and Peter Williams scored for the 6-5-1 Mules. Cheit also provided an assist. Dan Marden saved two of five shots.
Tim Costa scored on a penalty kick in the second half for 6-11 Thomas. Keegan Curtin made 16 saves off 29 shots.
Framingham St. 3, St. Joseph’s 2
At Framingham, Mass., Framingham State College fought back from a 2-1 deficit to defeat Saint Joseph’s College of Standish.
Jonathas Goncalves scored off a Jason Silva cross at 60:33 to break the 2-2 tie for 12-2-1 Framingham State. Michael Jones tied it on an unassisted goal in the second half. Alexander Hill scored 13:06 into the first with an assist form John Strazzullo assist. Greg Halle and Gabriel Gonzalez combined for seven saves off 15 shots.
Paul Robins had a goal and an assist in the first half for the 8-5-3 Monks. Lane Hubacz also scored in the first. Will Pike saved nine of 23 shots.
UMFK 7, UMPI 0
At Presque Isle, Keith Williams scored three goals as the UMaine-Fort Kent Bengals rolled and improved to 15-0.
Jermaine West and Andre Anderson each chipped in with two goals and an assist for the Bengals. Jarryd Phillips and Dwayne Smith each notched an assist and Derrick Plourde made one save on six shots.
Fort 9-5-1 UMPI, Richard Felbaum made saves on 27 shots.
Women’s soccer
UMFK 3, UMPI 1
At Presque, the UMaine-Fort Kent Warriors scored three first-half goals en route to the win over the Owls.
Sarah Nadeau, Whitney Sinclair and Brianne McGary each scored for the 12-3 winners and Angela Norsworthy recorded two assists. Kayla Daigle made eight saves on 13 shots.
Jessica Kinney scored for 8-5-2 UMPI. Billie Martin made five saves in the first half and Carolynn Tuck made five in the second. UMFK outshot UMPI 20-13.
