Soil and water district board seeks member

WARREN – The Knox-Lincoln Soil and Water Conservation District has one opening for a supervisor on the district board for a three-year term.

The district is a subdivision of state government, charged by law with developing and implementing a complete conservation program in the two-county area. Districts are governed by a volunteer board of five supervisors; three elected by residents and two appointed through the Maine Department of Agriculture.

Positions now held include Chairman of the Board Mark F. Hedrich of Union, Vice Chairman Sharon Chadwick of Warren and Secretary-Treasurer Rick Parent Jr. of Warren. Barbara Brusila of Warren and Tim Hathorne of Union serve as member supervisors. Nine associate supervisors assist the five supervisors in carrying out their work.

To be eligible for nomination, interested individuals must be registered voters residing within the district boundaries. Nominating petitions for this elected office must be signed by at least 25 resident registered voters and submitted for certification by Nov. 14. To receive a nomination petition, contact Election Superintendent Katherine Ward at the Knox-Lincoln SWCD, at 191 Camden Road in Warren or call 273-2005, ext. 101.
