Two former UMaine stars, Steve Kariya and David Cullen, have been recalled from their AHL teams to the NHL. The Vancouver Canucks have recalled winger Kariya from the Manitoba Moose while the Phoenix Coyotes have recalled Cullen from Springfield, Mass.

Kariya, the younger brother of Anaheim star Paul Kariya, is expected to play Thursday against Toronto.

Kariya, 23, had one goal and seven assists in four games with Manitoba. He has nine goals and 17 assists in 62 games with Vancouver over the last two seasons.

Cullen had two assists in two games for Springfield this season after leading all Falcons defensemen in scoring last year with 13 goals and 29 assists in 69 games.
