AUGUSTA – Augusta police searched for a man who robbed the Gardiner Savings Bank of Maine and fled on foot with an undetermined amount of cash.
Sgt. Chris Massey said the call came in about 8:45 a.m. Tuesday. Police are not sure whether the robber had a weapon, but Massey said no one in the bank was hurt.
Massey said the robber fled on foot and apparently got into a vehicle in the downtown area.
The robber is described as about 5-foot-6 and 160 pounds. He was wearing bluejeans and a white sweat shirt with a brown corduroy jacket.
