AUGUSTA – The average cash price of heating oil has dropped another dime in the latest weekly survey in Maine.
The average statewide price of $2.70 per gallon is more than 90 cents cheaper than a month ago, and about $2 less than the average in June.
John Kerry of the Governor’s Office of Energy Independence and Security says the reason is simple: Demand for oil has dropped because of the economic decline.
The latest survey found that the lowest heating oil price, $2.13 per gallon, was found in southern Maine. The highest price, $2.95, was found in central Maine.
