Bangor man sentenced in cocaine, Ecstasy case

BANGOR – A Bangor man was sentenced Wednesday in federal court to 15 months in prison for possessing with the intent of distributing cocaine and the drug known as Ecstasy.

Timothy J. Theriault, 39, will face three years of supervised release after his sentence and must pay a $5,000 fine. He was found guilty of the two drug charges on May 7 by a jury in U.S. District Court.

The case began in August 2000, when officers with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, Maine Drug Enforcement Agency, and Bangor police searched Theriault’s residence. The search uncovered 19 grams of cocaine in a dresser in Theriault’s bedroom, the Ecstasy pills, known formally as MDMA, and numerous firearms.
