Old Westbury nabs victory over Eagles

OLD WESTBURY, N.Y. – Six-foot-10 sophomore center Lester Prosper poured in 26 points and grabbed 19 rebounds, both game-highs, as Old Westbury beat Husson University’s Eagles 82-69 in the Old Westbury Panther Classic Saturday.

Matt MacKenzie had a team-high 19 points and seven rebounds for Husson and was chosen to the all-tournament team. Brock Bradford had 15 points and Jay Uhrin had 11.

At Gorham, Erin Porter scored a team-high 17 points and collected 10 rebounds as UMF won the consolation game at University of Southern Maine Tip-Off Tournament Saturday.

Caitlyn Laflin contributed 16 points, 10 rebounds and four steals; Jillian Ross scored 12 points and Amanda Byrne had 11 points and a game-high eight assists.

Shelby Bradford’s 18 points, 10 rebounds and three steals led Husson. Jenny Rollins scored 14 points and Kelsey Lavertu had 12 points, five rebounds and two blocked shots.

Bangor’s Porter and Lee’s Bradford were all-tourney choices.
