Two Hermon men have been charged with three separate burglaries in Bangor after officers found them with a bag filled with stolen items, Sgt. Ed Potter said Monday.
Kenneth Cote II, 25, and Timothy McCann, 28, were acting suspiciously when they went into Shaw’s Supermarket on Main Street in Bangor just before 5 p.m. Friday, so store personnel called Bangor police, according to Potter.
The two men had a bag filled with stolen items, including prescription medications and a large amount of coins taken recently from burglaries at Herbal Tea & Tobacco on Main Street and two residences, Potter said.
Both suspects were charged with three counts of Class A felony burglary, stealing drugs, possession of burglar tools and receiving stolen property. Each man faces up to 30 years in jail and up to a $50,000 fine on each burglary charge.
Cote, who reportedly was carrying brass knuckles and who was out on bail for a previous charge, also was charged with carrying a concealed weapon and violation of bail conditions.
Both men were taken to Penobscot County Jail, where they remained Monday, according to a jail official. (Nok-Noi Ricker, BDN)
Two Bangor men were arrested Sunday night shortly after being seen leaving the scene of a burglary at Mount Hope Variety, Bangor police Sgt. Ed Potter said Monday.
Ryan Schillinger, 22, and Ira Duren, 33, were stopped around 10:10 p.m. after a resident near the store called to report hearing breaking glass.
The duo was found just down the street carrying a case of beer and an unspecified amount of cash. Evidence left at the store tied Schillinger and Duren to the scene, Potter said.
Both were charged with Class C felony burglary, criminal mischief and theft by unauthorized taking, and taken to Penobscot County Jail. A Class C crime is punishable by up to five years in prison and up to a $5,000 fine.
Schillinger was released from 3rd District Court in Bangor on Monday, but Duran remained incarcerated that evening, a jail official said. (Nok-Noi Ricker, BDN)
