ACADIA NATIONAL PARK – The Park Loop Road has been closed for the winter, park officials said Friday afternoon.

Normally the road would be closed on Dec. 1, but the recent wind and rain storms have left the road unsafe.

Normal winter access is now in effect, meaning that the Ocean Drive portion of the loop road is open, with access via Schooner Head Road from Bar Harbor, and with the exit at Otter Cliff Road.

The Jordan Pond area is also accessible via Jordan Pond Road in Seal Harbor.
