STEUBEN – Maine State Police responded Tuesday to a report of a domestic assault on Quarry Road that involved a handgun.
Around 10:30 p.m. troopers went to the Ernest Connors residence and learned that Connors, 42, had threatened his wife with a handgun, Maine State Police said in a prepared release.
Connors, armed with a .44 Magnum handgun, left the residence on foot just as troopers arrived. “Connors showed back up at the residence a while later and confronted police,” the release said. “He was taken into custody after a brief struggle in the driveway. [He] was unarmed at the time.”
Connors was taken to Washington County Jail and charged with criminal threatening with a firearm, domestic violence assault and domestic violence terrorizing.
Connors’ sister Tina Ham, 41, of Steuben was arrested for assaulting a 14-year-old-boy at the residence during the same incident. She also was taken to the Washington County jail.
Troopers found the gun the next day hidden behind the residence.
The Washington County Sheriff’s Department and Gouldsboro Police Department assisted Maine State Police.
