Righter shows UMM Clippers way past Unity with 20 points

UNITY – Eric Righter scored 20 to lead six double-digit scorers as his University of Maine-Machias Clippers downed Unity College 120-61 in men’s college basketball action Thursday.

Nate Kelly led Unity with 28 points.

At Orono, Providence College scored four unanswered goals as they beat the University of Maine.

Jackie Duncan, Laura Veharanta, Ashley Cottrell and Mari Pahkonen scored for 8-6-2 Providence. Genevieve Lacasse stopped 28 of 29 shots.

Vanessa Vani scored the opening goal at 7:18 in the first period for the 1-6-1 Black Bears. Jennie Gallo provided the assist. Genevieve Turgeon turned away 35 of 39 shots.
