Throckmorton lifts Bangor girls

NEWPORT – Hilary Throckmorton scored 13 points Tuesday night as Bangor held off Nokomis for a 38-36 girls basketball victory.

Kate Freudenberger had 11 points for the Rams.

Marissa Shaw and Kara Batchelder scored 10 points apiece for Nokomis.

At Hampden, Sheri Valley scored nine of her game-high 16 points in the third quarter as the Witches pulled away for their second victory of the season.

Brewer led just 23-20 at halftime but outscored Hampden 18-7 in the third quarter to take a 14-point lead into the final period.

Meghan McLain added 12 points for Brewer while Leah Jackson scored 10

Michaela Stephenson led Hampden with eight points.

At Penobscot Ice Arena, Brewer, Casey Hull scored two goals and assisted two others as John Bapst of Bangor beat Hampden Academy.

Tyler Fadrigon, Ethan Sale and Chase Huckestein scored for the 2-0 Crusaders. Sale and Hull scored on penalty shots in the second period. Derek Duff saved 22 of 25 shots.

Josh Tardiff had two goals and an assist for the 0-2 Broncos. Nate Rocker scored the other goals as Cody MacAllister provided two assists and Nate Baker recorded an assist. Jacob Ward turned away 27 of 32 shots.

Waterville 4, Bangor 0

At Colby College, Waterville, Nick Deblois scored a goal and provided two assists as Waterville shut out Bangor.

Eric Aldrich had a goal and an assist for the 1-0 Panthers. Shawn Lee and Tim Locke added goals. Nolan MacDonnell stopped all 21 shots.

Eric Knox turned away 30 of 34 shots for the 1-1 Rams.
