Ingraham’s 4 TDs lead Salve Regina past MMA

CASTINE – Spencer Ingraham ran for 159 yards and three touchdowns as Salve Regina beat Maine Maritime 36-20 on Saturday.

Salve Regina never trailed after Ingraham put the team on the scoreboard with a 17-yard run in the first quarter. Later, he scored on runs of 20 yards in the second quarter and 17 yards in the third.

Joe Papalia added another 181 rushing yards and quarterback Mike Golden was 10-of-14 for 123 yards for Salve Regina, which had 506 yards of total offense compared to 302 yards for Maine Maritime.

Maine Maritime’s Don Thibodeau ran for 144 yards but never made it into the end zone. The Mariners’ touchdowns came on runs of 11 and 1 yards by Jeremy Belyea and Justin Cummings’ 2-yard run.

Colby 34, Hamilton 7

CLINTON, N.Y. – Robert Lippert completed 12 of 27 passes for 193 yards and two touchdowns to lead Colby to a 34-7 victory over Hamilton on Saturday.

Lippert hit Chris Duncombe with a 5-yard touchdown pass to open the scoring in the first quarter, but the extra point attempt was blocked.

On the play following an interception, Hamilton took a 7-6 lead on a 42-yard run by Chris Weeden, but was shut out the rest of the way.

Lee Carlson took a pass from Lippert 57 yards to give the White Mules a 12-7 lead.

In the third quarter, with Hamilton pinned deep in its end, Matt Albertelli blocked a punt that Jason Grantham recovered for a touchdown.

Aaron Stepka scored rushing touchdowns from 1 and 5 yards, finishing with 45 yards on 16 carries for Colby.

Weeden had 108 yards rushing on 24 carries for Hamilton. Mike Powers led the Continentals with 13 tackles.

Middlebury 17, Bates 10

LEWISTON – Wide receiver Denny Smith scored two touchdown passes including the game-winner and finished the day with 204 yards on 13 catches as Middlebury beat Bates 17-10 on Saturday.

Bates (0-5) had tied the game at 10-10 on a 48-yard pass from Kane Jankoski to Owen Miehe nine minutes into the third. But Smith scored three plays later on a 49-yard pass from Scott Roberts for the final margin.

Middlebury (2-3) got on the scoreboard in the first quarter with a 43-yard touchdown catch by Smith. Bates’ Nat Carr had a 40-yard field goal and Middlebury’s Mike Frissora had a 26-yard field goal as Bates trailed 10-3 at the half.

Smith’s 204-yard performance was the second-best in Middlebury history behind his own 228-yard day against Colby on Sept. 29.

Trinity 50, Bowdoin 34

HARTFORD, Conn. – Tom Pierandri rushed for 187 yards and three touchdowns and Greg Ward threw for two scores as Trinity beat Bowdoin 50-34 Saturday in the New England Small College Athletic Conference.

Bowdoin (1-4, 1-4 NESCAC) got on the board first on a 74-yard run by Tony Small in the opening minute of the first quarter.

Trinity (3-2, 3-2) struck back on its next possession when Joe Wahl caught a 2-yard touchdown pass from Ward to cap a 10-play, 65-yard drive.

Pierandri scored on runs of 1, 10 and 6 yards.

Ward ended the day 29-of-47 for 352 yards and no interceptions.

Small led Bowdoin with 15 rushes for 100 yards, while Justin Hardison went 23-for-39 for 273 yards with three touchdowns and three interceptions.
