James Cummings, 32, a transient, was arraigned on a charge of assault Monday in a Bangor court in connection with an alleged assault of an Old Town woman at a Bangor store Sunday night. Cummings originally was charged with assault and burglary to a motor vehicle, but the Penobscot County District Attorney’s Office determined that the facts of the case did not warrant prosecuting Cummings on the burglary charge.
