Bangor woman set to ref at Olympics

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Stacy Livingston of Bangor, Maine, will be a hockey referee at the Salt Lake Olympics.

Livingston is one of six American officials who will work the games, USA Hockey said Tuesday.

Each of the officials has significant experience in international hockey and currently works in college or minor league hockey, USA Hockey officials said.

“Over the course of their careers, these individuals have distinguished themselves through hard work and dedication to their craft, all motivated by a desire to reach the Olympics,” said Matt Leaf, director of the officiating education program.

James Garofalo of Allen Park, Mich. will serve as a linesman, while Scott Hansen of Monroe, Conn., will be a referee.

The four women chosen for the women tournament were: Livingston, referee Krista Knight of Madison, Wis.; linesman Julie Piacentini of Hyde Park, Mass.; and linesman Megan MacKenzie of Rochester, N.Y.
