PRESQUE ISLE – The University of Maine at Presque Isle used four free throws from Glenn Sharpe in the final 20 seconds to hold off Husson College and post an 82-77 men’s basketball win Saturday.
Sharpe hit the first two to give UMaine-Presque Isle a four-point lead but Husson’s Tony Tobin cut the lead to one on a 3-pointer with four seconds left.
Husson called a timeout but didn’t have any left and Brian Colman hit both of the free throws from the resulting technical foul. Sharpe was fouled on the Owls’ inbounds play and hit both shots to ice the game.
Sharpe led the Owls with 19 points, and Colman and Pierre Michaud added 12 points each. Raymond King popped in 11 points.
Tobin hit five 3-pointers on his way to 17 points for the Braves, and Sean Foye added 12 points. Mike McCaffrey and Brian Alley each contributed 10.
