LAWRENCE, Mass. – University of Maine forward Reg Cardinal has been named the Hockey East Player of the Month for the month of December.

Cardinal, a senior captain, scored seven goals and added six assists for 13 points in six games. He was named tournament MVP of the JC Penney Classic in Orono and was also named to the all-tournament team at the Denver Cup. Maine went 4-2 during the month.
