BANGOR — A Greater Bangor-Brewer area juvenile was sentenced Wednesday in U.S. District Court for making and possessing a sawed-off shotgun.
The 13-year-old was sentenced in federal court to four years of probation on two counts of juvenile delinquency. Other conditions to the youth’s probation include mental health treatment, abstention from alcohol and illegal drugs, drug testing, daily school attendance and a night curfew.
The sentencing follows a guilty plea in February to the charges of making and possessing an unregistered sawed-off shotgun. The gun was designed to hold up to 6 rounds of ammunition and had a barrel cut down to less than 16 inches in length.
The maximum sentence for the juvenile’s crime was official detention or probation until the age of 21.
