For the first time in Husson College golf team history, the Braves are ranked in the top 20 in the nation. The NAIA ranking released Nov. 15 listed the Braves 20th among all NAIA Division I and Division II schools with 69 votes. The Braves, a Div. II school, will compete in the District X regional tournament May 1-2 on Cape Cod.
The team finished its fall season at 8-2 while setting six state intercollegiate records, including: lowest team total on a par-72 golf course (286) at the Maine Athletic Conference Tournament on Oct. 9, lowest team total on a par-70 course (285) at the Thomas College Tournament on Sept. 12, final team score 30 strokes ahead of nearest team with two-day score of 582, MAC tournament individual record on a par-72 course (66) by Corey Pion to earn medalist honors at the MAC Tournament, team average of 301 strokes per round, and 1000th career coaching victory for head coach Bruce MacGregor.
