HALIFAX, Nova Scotia – The Maine Heat team from the Bangor-Brewer area finished the third day of playoff action at the World Team Candlepin Bowling Championship playoffs in third place in its division Friday.
Maine Heat is third with a 60-28 record and total pinfall of 20,241. Saturday will see the final three rounds and a new champion will be crowned.
Maine Heat will take on Travel Anywhere from Bedford, N.H., with the winner taking on Rodd Future Inns division leader New Hampshire All-Stars of Massachusetts and New Hampshire.
Maine Heat went 16-0 with 16 points won and none lost Friday. Charles Milan III, Shawn Morrison, Russ Nealey, Tim Matero and James Milan bowled a combined 633 in the first string, 703 in the second, and 664 in the third for a total pinfall of 2000.
Morrison had the best day (157-130-182) with a total score of 469.
In the Coca-Cola Division, Maria’s Sub Shop of Scituate, Mass., is the leader with a 65-23 mark and pinfall of 20,520 while second place belongs to Merchangts of Hydracrome, Nova Scotia (63-25, 20,296 pinfall). Bowlarama of Nova Scotia is third with a 56-32 record and 20,296 pinfall.
The tourney features the best candlepin bowling teams from the provinces of Canada and the New England states. The site alternates each year from Canada to the Bangor-Brewer Bowling Lanes in Brewer.
