SCARBOROUGH – Buttercup, a 5-year-old mare owned by Maralyn Young of Kennebunkport, broke the State of Maine Pacing Record for mares Saturday evening at Scarborough Downs, racing around the track in 1:56.4, beating the old record of 1:57 set by Vanessa Lake in 1992 and equaled by Duchess of Alba in 1995.
