“Torpedo the dam” screams the headline of your lead editorial of Aug. 6, inciting the destruction of a dam owned by Charles Woodman of Appleton. If his legal and finanical resources are not already exhausted, one hopes Woodman would bring suit against your newspaper and its editorialist on grounds of exacerbating the pain and suffering already imposed upon him by the Maine Department of Environmental Protection and the Maine Supreme Court.
Does your advocacy of governmental dam-destructing extend to the hundreds of beaver dams clogging Maine brooks and streams? Woodman was trying to augment our fishery resource, not depelte it. Give him a break! Carle G. Gray Sullivan
