New MMA officers, board members announced

AUGUSTA – The Maine Municipal Association has announced its 2002 slate of officers and new board members, including Gary Brown, town manager of Vassalboro, who has been elected president of the MMA executive committee.

Brown has served on the committee since 1999 and has been a member of MMA’s legislative policy committee since 1994. He served on the executive committee of the Kennebec Council of Governments and formerly served as town manager of China.

Susan Lessard Bruno, town manager of Hampden, was elected vice president of the MMA executive committee. Bruno has served on the committee since 2000. She serves on the Maine Rural Development Council’s executive board and is a member of the women’s subcommittee of the Maine Jobs Council. Bruno is a certified Maine manager and has served as town manager in Livermore Falls, Fayette and Vinalhaven.

Jolene Lovejoy, vice chair of the Rumford board of selectmen, was re-elected to a three-year term on the MMA executive board. Lovejoy has been a selectmen in Rumford since 1995 and has served on the executive committee for one year. She also serves on the Western Maine Transit board of directors.

William Bridgeo, city manager of Augusta and Ryan Pelletier, town manager of St. Agatha, were elected to three-year terms on the MMA board. Bridgeo has served as manager in Augusta since 1999 and previously served as manager in Calais, Canandaigua, New York, and Killingly, Connecticut. He has a master’s degree from the University of Hartford and currently serves on the Maine Service Center Coalition steering committee. Pelletier has served St. Agatha since 1999. He previously served as manager in Wallagrass. He also serves on the Northern Maine development committee and the regional transportation advisory committee.

Elected to one-year terms were Galen Larrabee, chair of the board of selectmen in Knox, and Anne Swift-Kayatta, town councilor in Cape Elizabeth.

The Maine Municipal Association, located in Augusta, is a voluntary membership organization offering professional services to municipalities and other local governmental entities. MMA is a non-profit, nonpartisan organization governed by its executive committee elected from its member municipalities.
