Edwards sparks Hodgdon

HODGDON – Carrie Edwards converted a Sarah Stewart pass with 14 minutes left in the game to give the Hodgdon Hawks a 1-0 schoolgirl soccer win over the Katahdin Cougars Wednesday.

Danielle Fitzpatrick made eight saves on 12 shots for Hodgdon, now 4-1-1.

Laura Ordway made 13 saves on 23 shots for 0-1 Katahdin.

Fort Fairfield 5, Washburn 0

At Fort Fairfield, the Tigers received goals from five different players to take the victory.

Melissa Butler, Sarah Nason, Brianne Bubar, Jaime Parsley and Janey Hyslop each scored for 5-2 Fort Fairfield. Bubar and Erica Ricker each added an assist. Devin Jewett stopped both shots she faced.

Billie-Jo Fitzherbert made 15 saves on 25 shots for Washburn, now 2-5.

Boys soccer

Katahdin 2, Hodgdon 0

At Hodgdon, Dana Johnson turned aside nine of 16 shots he faced to help the Cougars win their opener.

Dave Brawn and Nicholas Cullen scored the goals for Katahdin of Sherman Station.

Goalkeeper John Mooney made six saves on 10 shots for the 3-3-1 Hawks.

Fort Fairfield 6, Washburn 0

At Fort Fairfield, the Tigers iced the game with four goals in the second half to down the Beavers.

Andrew Bugby and Joel Brahim each scored a pair of goals for 6-0-1 Fort Fairfield. Nick McCullough and Paul Guiou added goals. John Hayes and David Patrick combined to save eight of 10 shots.

Nick Thompson made 17 saves on 31 shots as Washburn fell to 0-8.
