This week’s guest is 19-year-old Matthew Paul of Millinocket, a sophomore journalism student at the University of Maine and a clerk at the NEWS.

Paul, the son of Wallace and Miriam Paul, is a graduate of Stearns High School in Millinocket. His brother Daniel was a 1994 Stearns Graduate.

Matthew began his newspaper career early as he started writing for the Katahdin Times in the fall of 1991 as an eighth-grader. He covered local and recreational sports for them through the summer of ’96, earning two first places and several other writing awards from the Maine Press Association.

Last week’s guest, Don Hanscom of Hampden, posted a respectable 14-6 mark in a difficult week, but two-time defending guest champ Kevin Hewes of Brewer still leads with 16-4.

Dave Barber continues to lead the staff contingent, but Peter Warner moved to within a game of the lead. Andrew Neff is two back.
