You recently published an Associated Press update (BDN, Oct. 14) on Baby Jessica, 10 years after her rescue from an abandoned well in Texas, under the headline, “Anniversary of rescue passes by without fanfare.” In the article, Jessica’s mother was quoted as saying that “More than anything, I want her to have a normal childhood … we want everyone to know that she’s fine, that she’s a healthy, active, loving girl. But we don’t want people recognizing her everywhere she goes.”
The article states that “Her family has asked that photos not show her full face because they fear she will be kidnapped.” The article, of course, is accompanied by a full-face photograph of the 11-year-old girl. Shame on you! When are you going to learn to respect people’s privacy? We all cheered 10 years ago when she was saved. Now you put her back in danger just to sell papers. Bruce Munger Sullivan
