Premium orange juice

I would like to give my support to Rep. Arthur F. Mayo III of Bath. On Jan. 30, the Bangor Daily News reported that Rep. Mayo proposed an idea to allow tourists to leave the state on Labor Day without paying any toll fee. If it has been successful in other states, then why can’t we try that in Maine?

If you had to pay $2.65 for a pint of orange juice in Florida, I’m sure you will never forget that when you plan your next vacation. If any out-of-stater can save $6 or $8 that is a little money they will have saved for gas or a light lunch.

Another item that comes to mind is that it’s going to break the bondholders for just that one day. How much do they lose when we have had a bad season?

If I was an out-of-stater leaving Maine on Labor Day, the savings that I made on the road won’t ever leave my mind. Paying $2.65 for a pint of orange juice in Florida won’t ever leave my mind either.

As Maine goes, so goes the nation.
