The ranks of the Maine State Police have increased by 37 with the graduation of the latest class from the Maine Criminal Justice Academy in Waterville. Graduation ceremonies were held in late December and followed 23 weeks of studying and training at the academy. The new troopers in place bring the number of sworn personnel in the state police to 326.
Troop A, York County
RAYMOND R. ARCAND JR., 23, of Saco will patrol the Kezar Falls area. Arcand is a former Ogunquit police officer and he is an emergency medical technician. Arcand is a graduate of the University of Southern Maine and a 1992 graduate of Wells High School.
ROBERT L. CARON, 44, of Biddeford will patrol the Acton and Shapleigh area. He is a former owner of a masonry contracting business. Caron is a 1971 graduate of Biddeford High School.
MARK A. HOLMQUIST, 21, of Caribou will patrol the northern York County area and was president of this class at the academy. Holmquist holds a degree in behavioral science from the University of Maine at Presque Isle. Holmquist has served in the U.S. Army and he is a 1991 graduate of Caribou High School.
LAUREN A. REESE, 26, of Plymouth will patrol the Parsonsfield area. Reese holds a sociology degree from Bridgewater State College and a master’s degree in criminal justice from Anna Maria College. She is a 1989 graduate of Silver Lake Regional High School in Pembroke, Mass.
Troop B, Cumberland, Oxford, Androscoggin counties
MICHAEL J. CHAVEZ, 23, of Bridgewater, Mass., will patrol the Turner area. Chavez holds a degree in environmental science from Unity College. He has served as a reserve police officer in Kennebunkport and he is an EMT. Chavez is a 1992 graduate of Bridgewater-Raynham Regional High School in Massachusetts.
FERNARD L. CLOUTIER II, 26, of Lewiston will patrol the Greene area. Cloutier has served on the Lewiston Police Department and he holds a criminal justice degree from Norwich University. He is also a member of the U.S. Army Reserves. Cloutier is a 1989 graduate of St. Dominic’s High School in Lewiston.
KEVIN M. KAUPP, 24, of Plymouth, Mass., will patrol in the Livermore area. Kaupp holds a degree in criminal justice from St. Anselm’s College and he is an EMT. He is a 1992 graduate of Boston College High School in Dorchester, Mass.
JOHN L. KYLE II, 28, of North Yarmouth will patrol the Gray-New Gloucester area. Kyle is a former Sanford police officer and is an EMT. He served in the U.S. Marines as a military police officer has a degree in law enforcement from Coastal Caroline Community College. Kyle is a 1988 graduate of Greeley High School in Cumberland.
JAMES M. MCCARTHY, 23, of West Dennis, Mass., will patrol Interstate 95 from Brunswick to Scarborough. McCarthy has a mechanical engineering degree from Boston University and is a 1992 graduate of Deerfield Academy in Massachusetts.
THOMAS M. MULCAHY, 31, of Watertown, Mass., will patrol the Hiram-Brownfield area. Mulcahy holds degrees from Anna Maria College and St. Anselm’s College, both in criminal justice. He is a 1989 graduate of Boston College High School.
ANDRE PARADIS, 24, of South Paris will patrol the Raymond area. Paradis is a former police officer in South Paris and holds a degree in criminology from the University of Southern Maine. He is a 1991 graduate of Buckfield High School.
JENNIFER M. STEWART, 29, of Portland will patrol the Gray-New Gloucester area. Stewart is a former EMT-paramedic in Portland with MEDCU and she is a 1986 graduate of Cony High School in Augusta.
ANNA H. STRUCK, 25, of Cumberland will patrol the North Yarmouth-Gray area. Struck holds a criminology degree from the University of Southern Maine. She is a 1990 graduate of Winthrop High School.
ABBE A. VOSS, 23, of North Grafton, Mass., will patrol the Greene-Leeds area. Voss holds a degree in criminal justice from Norwich University. She is a 1992 graduate of Grafton High School.
Troop C, Somerset, Franklin, Kennebec, Oxford counties
BERNARD M. BRUNETTE, 25, of Millinocket will patrol the Hartland to St. Albans area. Brunette is a former Waterville police officer and holds an associate degree in law enforcement from Southern Maine Technical College in South Portland. He is a 1991 graduate of Stearns High School in Millinocket.
AARON V. HANSCOM, 25, of East Machias will patrol the Readfield to Monmouth area. He is a 1990 graduate of Machias Memorial High School and is a former security officer at Colby College and a former corrections officer with the sheriff’s departments in Somerset and Kennebec counties.
JAY A. PELLETIER, 22, of Soldier Pond will patrol the Phillips and Rangeley area. He is an emergency medical technician with an associate degree in criminal justice from the University of Maine at Fort Kent. Pelletier is a 1993 graduate of Fort Kent Community High School.
LEE E. VANADESTINE, 24, of St. Albans will patrol the New Sharon and Chesterville area. He is a former Florida probation officer and served as a military police officer while in the U.S. Army. Vanadestine holds a degree in criminal justice from Pensacola Christian College and is a 1991 graduate of Hartland Christian School.
JONATHAN L. WILSON, 23, of Skowhegan will patrol the Hartland and St. Albans areas. He is a former dispatcher with the Madison Police Department and the Someret County Sheriff’s Department. Wilson also served as a reserve officer with Madison police. He is a 1992 graduate of Carrabec High School in North Anson.
Troop D, Sagadahoc, Lincoln, Knox, Waldo, Kennebec counties
MARK E. BARNEY, 32, of Randolph will patrol the Randolph and Chelsea areas. He is a former Waterville police officer who also served as a reserve officer with the Richmond Police Department. He attended the Southern Maine Technical College and is a 1985 graduate of Skowhegan High School.
MARK R. COLEMAN, 40, of Freedom will patrol Knox County. He is a former guard at the Maine State Prison and he attended Northeastern University and is a 1975 graduate of Bedford High School in Massachusetts.
MARK E. DAMREN, 26, of Augusta will patrol the Windsor to Jefferson area. He is a former deputy sheriff in Sagadahoc County and a former guard at Maine State Prison. Damren holds an associate degree in criminal justice from the University of Maine. He is a 1990 graduate of Cony High School in Augusta.
JONATHAN L. LEACH, 22, of Skowhegan will patrol the Randolph and Chelsea area. Leach earned an associate degree in criminal justice from the University of Maine at Augusta and he is a 1994 graduate of Skowhegan High School.
CHRISTOPHER A. TREMBLAY, 29, of Pittsfield will patrol the Thomaston to Warren area. He is a former Pittsfield police officer. Tremblay holds an associate degree in electronics from Eastern Maine Technical College in Bangor and is a 1986 graduate of Dexter High School.
DAVID W. TRIPP, 32, of Monroe will patrol the Washington to Whitefield area. He is a former deputy sheriff with the Waldo County Sheriff’s Department and is a former reserve officer in Belfast. Tripp is a 1983 graduate of Mount View High School in Thorndike.
Troop E, Penobscot, Piscataquis counties
THOMAS D. FISKE, 23, of East Millinocket will patrol the Howland area. He is a former Medway police officer and holds an associate degree in legal technology form the University of Maine. Fiske is a 1993 graduate or Schenck High School in East Millinocket.
SCOTT H. HAMILTON, 29, of Ellsworth will patrol the Newport area. He is a former Ellsworth police officer and served as a reserve officer in Bar Harbor. He has attended the University of Maine at Presque Isle and is a member of the Maine National Guard. Hamilton is a 1986 graduate of John Bapst Memorial High School in Bangor.
BRYCE M. PATROCK, 34, of Milford will patrol the Milford area. He is a former military police officer in the U.S. Army and attended the University of Maine campus in Bangor. He is a 1982 graduate of Freedom High School in Pennsylvania.
DARREN J. VITTUM, 28, of Brewer will patrol the Eddington and Holden areas. He is a former reserve officer with the Ellsworth Police Department. He holds an associate degree in legal technology from the University of Maine and is a 1988 graduate of John Bapst Memorial High School in Bangor.
KYLE R. WILLETTE, 28, of Bangor will patrol Glenburn to Kenduskeag. Willette served in the U.S. Marines and is a graduate of Eastern Maine Technical College where he studied fire science. He is a 1987 graduate of Brewer High School.
DAVID W. YANKOWSKY, 31, of Soldier Pond will patrol from Glenburn to Kenduskeag. He is a U.S. Army veteran and holds an associate degree from Campbell University. He is a 1985 graduate of Wisdom High School in St. Agatha.
Troop F, Aroostook County
ROBERT L. FLYNN, 28, of Presque Isle will patrol the Patten and Sherman area. He holds an associate degree from the University of Maine at Presque Isle and is a 1987 graduate of Washburn High School.
ROSS A MCQUADE, 35, of Mars Hill will patrol the central part of Aroostook County. McQuade is a former self-employed contractor. He attended the University of Maine at Presque Isle and is a 1980 graduate of Central Aroostook High School.
TODD M. STETSON, 31, of Caribou will patrol the southern part of Aroostook County. Stetson is a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and is a member of the Maine National Guard. He is a 1984 graduate of Washburn High School.
Troop J, Hancock, Washington counties
DARREN L. FOSTER, 23, of Monticello will patrol northern Washington County. Foster holds an associate degree in criminal justice from the University of Maine at Presque Isle. He is a 1992 graduate of Houlton High School.
CHUCK T. MICHAUD, 23, of St. Francis will patrol the Calais area. Michaud holds a degree in behavioral science from the University of Maine at Fort Kent and he is a 1992 graduate of Fort Kent High School.
JASON T. SATTLER, 27, of Ellsworth will patrol Hancock County. He holds an associate degree in legal technology from the University of Maine. Sattler has worked in the building trades industry and is a 1988 graduate of Ellsworth High School.
