Metivier helps Old Town beat Foxcroft 51-40

DOVER-FOXCROFT – Sarah Metivier scored 10 of her 22 points in the fourth quarter to spark Old Town to a 51-40 schoolgirl basketball win over Foxcroft Academy Wednesday night.

Renee Thibodeau recorded nine more for Old Town.

For Foxcroft Academy, Casey Snow tossed in 10 points.

At Dexter, 6-foot-3 freshman Ashley Ames and 6-0 junior Ashley Foster helped the Tigers dominate the inside game en route to the victory.

Ames scored 17 points, grabbed eight rebounds and blocked six shots for the winners while Foster chipped in with 16 points. Brittany Veazie recorded six steals.

Jenny Rollins paced Central with 16 points.

At the Bangor Auditorium, Meghan Sekera scored 11 of her game-high 16 points in the second half as the Crusaders posted the win. Sekera nailed four 3-pointers in the game.

John Bapst erased a seven-point first-quarter deficit by limiting the Bucks to 23 points over the final three periods.

Julie Crotty dished out four assists for the winners while Elissa Gordon’s 12 points and Jessica Taylor’s nine sparked the Bucks.

At the T.J. Ryan Center in Brewer, Kevin Carlton pumped in two goals to lead the 1-4 Blackhawks past the Broncos.

Craig Hill, Dave Charmichael and Ben Carlton added a goal each for the winners. Dave Carlton, Chris Webber and Chris Bitnes had an assist each.

Adam Stanley and Kevin Brooks led the 3-1 Broncos with a goal and an assist apiece. Chris Bearor added one goal. Garret McGowen made 13 saves on 18 shots.

Boys basketball

Bucksport 55, Bapst 52 (OT)

At the Bangor Auditorium, Jason Harvey scored four of Bucksport’s eight overtime points as the Bucks slipped by the Crusaders.

Harvey finished with 25 points and Corey Guilford added 13.

Zev Myerowitz led John Bapst with 16, Wes Day logged 14 and Ben Baldus added 12. A basket by Day sent the game into overtime.

White finished with a game-high 29 points including 18 in the second half and 12 in the fourth quarter.

The Indians, whose two losses have been by a total of three points, received 15 points from Shawn Kenniston, 11 from Kevin Emerson, 10 from Brian Tewhey and nine from Tyler Tracewski.
