BANGOR – The Bangor Mania, an 18-and-under girls Amateur Softball Association team, is ready to host the first Bangor Mania Softball Tournament this Saturday and Sunday in their final games of the season.
A round-robin tourney will be held Saturday, with a double-elimination event Sunday. Games will be at Coffin Field at Brewer High School and BMI Field, behind the Brewer Motor Inn. Games start at 10 a.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. Sunday, with the championship set for 3 p.m. Sunday.
Bangor Mania is playing its third season. Players represent seven area high schools and two colleges, and play a schedule that includes a national qualifier and a round-robin tourney hosted by the Polar Crush of Worcester, Mass., the three-time New England champs.
Three-year veterans Mel Deyone of Bangor and Angie Brawn of Lincoln will play their final games for the Mania, as both will attend Husson College in Bangor this fall.
