GUILFORD – Joe Davis scored an unassisted goal with 3:58 remaining in the first overtime period to lift the Schenck High Wolverines to a point-worthy 2-1 victory over Piscataquis Community’s Pirates in schoolboy soccer here Thursday.
Scott Purcell scored from Derek Thompson in the first half for the 7-4-1 Wolverines from East Millinocket.
Goalie Josh Smith made 4 saves on 11 shots.
For the Pirates, now 6-5-1, Chad Graffam tied the game at 1 with 7:47 left in regulation on a penalty kick. Goalie Chad Kimball saved 8 of 24 shots.
Central-EC 3, Lee Academy 2
At Lee, Joe Allen scored unassisted late in the first half for the Red Devils’ third goal and the eventual winning goal.
Joe Dunn and Toby Pines added a goal apiece, both assisted by Albert Withee and goalie David Green made 6 saves on 19 shots for the 2-9-1 Red Devils.
For the 5-5-1 Pandas, Stevie Coombs scored 2 goals and Kevin Hamel and Chris Faulkner had an assist apiece. Goalie Jeremy White saved 10 of 16 shots.
Katahdin 2, Ashland 0
At Ashland, Matt Porter scored both of the goals for Katahdin of Sherman Station to key the win over the host Hornets.
For the 6-5-1 Cougars, George Anderson and Aaron Marston each made an assist. Rob Porter made 8 saves on 13 shots.
Ed Bellanceau and Dan McDevitt combined for 9 saves on 14 shots for the 1-10 Hornets.
SAHS 7, East Grand 0
At Danforth, Scott McLellan and Jim Drew each scored 2 goals to lead the Southern Aroostook Warriors of Dyer Brook to the victory over host East Grand.
Brett Russell, Aaron Bouchie and Jeremy Porter each scored a goal for the 6-4-4 Warriors. Joe Porter made 2 assists. Bruce Barrett made 10 saves on 19 shots.
For the 3-6 Vikings, Rodger Dow saved 15 saves on 28 shots.
