It was bad enough when the Department of Mental Health changed its name to Behavioral and Developmental Services since mental health is neither a behavioral nor a developmental disorder. Now they are proposing to name the new psychiatric hospital in Augusta the Wholesome Life Center.

People with mental illness in Maine are in dire need of services. Maine needs a teaching college attached to the psychiatric hospital. We need inpatient drug treatment for people with dual diagnosis. We need doctors, counselors, residential facilities, crisis units and many other services. Cute euphemisms are not needed.
