Chamber honors The Weekly’s John Browning

BANGOR – John Browning, advertising manager for The Weekly, received the Volunteer of the Year Award from the Bangor Region Chamber of Commerce.

The award is presented on the basis of participating in the Chamber and its programs, volunteering for the Chamber, going above and beyond expected volunteer duties, and proven devotion to the Chamber and its diversity of programs.

“This year’s Volunteer of the Year Award goes to John Browning, from The Weekly,” announced Candace Guerette, executive director of the Chamber. “He has been a cheerleader and supporter of the Chamber for years. John’s support of the Chamber is evident in the amount of his time he is willing to donate to this organization.

“John has been the chairperson for the Chamber’s trade show for the past two years, teaching us all a thing or two about trade shows. From the initial planning to layout to setup to greeter, John does it all. John is currently offering his expertise to the first annual Learn Here and Live Here Job Fair-Career Day. As the chairman for both events, John shows a love for the region and a commitment to the business community that are easily recognized,” Guerette said.

“The staff and I truly appreciate how much time John has given to us. For all you have done in 2001, thank you, John, and congratulations.”

Browning has been with The Weekly for four years. Before that, he worked for the St. Petersburg Times for eight years. He lives in Brewer with his wife, Roberta, and children, Tammy and Patrick.
