Dress up for school?

Do you want your own child wearing a school uniform that is itchy and uncomfortable? Not to mention washing the clothes day after day, and if one gets ruined you have to pay for a new one. It is a free country and you can wear what you are in the mood for.

The government can’t make us wear school uniforms, and if they did, I would rather be home schooled.

Some people think uniforms make you unpopular.

Some people might look OK and some people might look really corny. I don’t want to look corny and unpopular.

If you want to support my facts and reasons you can go to your local school board meeting. Christopher D. Curtis Old Town

Kids, do you want to wear uniforms to school? I think yes, because it would look astounding to be dressed up for school.

It would be good for U.S. students to dress up for school. As of Aug. 30, 16 out of the 50 states have schools in uniform, and a lot of other schools are adopting the trend.

Kids should have to dress up for school because they do better in school when they are dressed up. A 1994 study at Bowling Green State University in Ohio showed that students [in uniforms] do better on their tests and quizzes that they took during the study.

Dressing up for school will also reduce the number of fights in the school year. In Long Beach, Calif., dressing up has plunged crime rates 76 percent. Fighting rates have plunged 93 percent. It will take more than school uniforms to prevent assaults with deadly weapons such as guns.

It’s not what I think that counts. It’s only what you think. It does matter if you like them, hate them, despise them, or if you are in uniform or not. Think of what they have done to the kids in uniforms. Maybe they will do the same for you. Uniforms work wonders on people.

If your school is not in uniforms and you want it to be, I urge you to attend a school board meeting and state your opinion or you could have a petition. Daryl R. Johnson Old Town
