Georges Nashan, RN, MS, has been promoted to director of performance improvement for St. Joseph Healthcare in Bangor. Since joining the organization 17 years ago, he has served both as a nurse and a nurse manager in the post-coronary unit and a nurse in the critical care and surgical units.
He also worked in utilization review before becoming involved in performance improvement as an analyst. Nashan holds a bachelor’s degree in nursing from the University of Rhode Island and a master’s degree in business from Husson College.
Reita Smith, RN, recently joined St. Joseph Healthcare as director of home health and hospice. As director, Smith will supervise a team of nurses, home health aides, therapists, social workers, volunteers and clerical personnel at the agency, which provides the Greater Bangor region with home care and hospice services. Smith has been involved in nursing for 25 years, including both acute care and home health nursing, long-term nursing and administration. Before joining St. Joseph Healthcare, Smith was a consultant for North Country Associates, a Maine-based long-term care agency. She earned her RN from the University of Maine in Augusta.
