Eagles fend off Beavers Michaud sparks 3rd-quarter run

WASHBURN – Nikki Michaud scored seven of her 11 points in the third quarter as Limestone/Maine School of Science and Mathematics took the lead for good en route to a 50-38 schoolgirl basketball victory over Washburn Tuesday night.

Amber Blakney of Washburn scored seven of her team-high 13 points during a 16-0 run in the second quarter which gave the Beavers a 20-10 lead.

The Eagles scored the next 10 for a 20-all tie at halftime.

Ashley Brooker and Traci Weatherhead each posted 13 points for Limestone, and Jessica Stackhouse also had 11.

At Lee, Deidra Ham scored a game-high 22 points, Katie Harris tossed in 17 more, and Shelby Pickering contributed 16 points and 12 rebounds as Lee Academy triumphed.

Harris had three of her five 3-pointers in the first quarter as Lee jumped out to a 17-6 lead.

Kristin Hersom grabbed 11 rebounds and Ashley Linscott chipped in seven assists and six steals.

Amanda Godley’s 21 points led East Grand of Danforth.
