Library friends schedule book sale

The Friends of the Orono Public Library will hold a used book sale and bake sale Saturday, Feb. 2, at the library on Goodridge Drive. Admission is free from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., with early bird admission at 9 a.m. for $5. Snow date is Feb. 9.

“Library friends are readers, so there will be a terrific assortment of both fiction and nonfiction waiting to be re-circulated at good prices,” said Judy Sucec, treasurer.

“The FOPL bake shop also will be serving bread, rolls and more. Cooks will prepare a traditional Maine Groundhog Day Special: pea soup and johnnycake. Baked beans and brown bread also will be hot and ready to take out or eat in.

“So if the cold and snow have gotten you down, curl up with a good book and some down-home comfort food from the friends’ sale,” Sucec said. “Our fund raising benefits library programming and Orono’s library building fund.”
