The Northeastern University baseball team and the Hofstra softball team were selected as the preseason favorites to win in America East play this spring.

In the voting of baseball coaches, Northeastern earned six first-place votes and 62 points and was picked to unseat five-time defending champ Delaware (52 points). Maine was picked to finish third with 41 points, followed by Towson (38) and Hofstra (34).

The softball coaches gave the nod to defending champ Hofstra, which garnered six first-place votes and 60 points. Boston University checked in second with 52 poitns, followed by Delaware (50) and UMaine (41).
